Realty players and stakeholders say that while the IGI airport can handle the current passenger and cargo traffic, and is far from the saturation mark, a second international airport in the NCR, especially at Jewar where a lot of land is available, can work wonders for Noida and Greater Noida and put them on a par with Gurgaon.R K Arora, chairman of Supertech, says: “The proposal for an international airport at Jewar, along Yamuna Expressway, was long in the works. Once Jewar is confirmed, the business for residential and commercial markets will increase manyfold, with a large number of ready customers looking to stay and work out of this zone, owing to the proximity of the airport.
“Also, with many corporates, MNCs, BPOs, IT-ITeS firms having set shop in Noida and Greater Noida, they would look to expand their business operations here, as an international airport in close proximity can multiply opportunities.“
Rakesh Yadav, MD of Antriksh Group, said: “Strategically, Noida and Greater Noida have great industrial potential and, therefore, an airport in Jewar would greatly facilitate that activity. The actual execution of the project is likely to generate significant employment opportunities across the real estate sector.
